To Whom It May Concern,

I take pleasure in commend-ing Mr. Charles Bennett of the Sophomore class of Bowdoin College, to the favor of any to whom he may address himself. He has made up his mind to go into the army.

He is a young man of capacity + energy, and of the right spirit + stamp for the business. I hope he will be successful in his application, as I am confident he will make a true soldier, + do himself honor + his country good service.
