A copy of a Resolve of the Legislature of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in relation to the payment of that portion of the claim for the services of the militia during the last war to which this State is entitled also a statement of the disbursement by Massachusetts in prosecuting said claim and a report of a committee of the Council of the Commonwealth to whom the subject was referred has been received at the office of the Secretary of State. By these documents it appears that the sum of $23,145 dollars 26 cents is retained by Massachusetts for Expenses in prosecuting said claim and one third art of the balance amounting to 132,200 dollars is in the Treasury of the Commonwealth awaiting the order of this Government & measures will be forthwith be taken to procure the receipt of the same into the Treasury of this State - The facts together with the accompanying documents are communicated for the information of the Legislature.

E Smith March 30, 1831 Read & with the accompanying documents referred to the Committee who have under consideration so much of the Governor's Message as relates to the Massachusetts claim - in concurrence. Resolve correcting the State valuation laid on the table by Mr. Bourne of Kennebunk was read & indefinitely postponed. Report relative to Internal Improvements &c made by the Committee to whom were referred the papers received concerning those subjects was read & accepted in concurrence - & it was moved that the report be printed for the use of the Legislature & the question thereon was taken by yeas & nays as follows yeas 49 nays 63 (for yeas & nays see page 506)
