On motion of Mr Kent Ordered, that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of authorizing towns, whenever any town shall by vote so determine, to appoint Commissioners of Highways, with powers similar to those granted to the town of Portland, instead of Highway Surveyors as now by law established - sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr Washburn Ordered, That the Joint Standing Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of amending or repealing An Act entitled An Act for restraining the taking of excessive usury with leave to report by Bill or otherwise - sent up for concurrence -
