123 Wednesday February 11th 1829 [Resolve for County Tax] Resolve laying a tax on the several Counties in this State was read once and tomorrow 10 o'clock assigned for a 2nd reading and committed to Messrs. Drummond, French and Bodwell.

[Petitions referred] Petition of Selectmen of Madison that their doings may be made valid and " of John Neal & others that Universalists may be made legal witnesses were referred in concurrence to the Committee on the Judiciary.

[Pet: John O'Brien referred] Petition of John O'Brien and others for incorporation of Brunswick falls Cotton Factory was referred to the Committee on Manufactures. Sent down for concurrence.

[Order of Notice on pet. of David Dunlap & als] Mr. Gardner from the Committee on Incorporation of towns reported an order of notice on the petition of David Dunlap and others. Read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

[Bill to incorporate South Parish in Bridgton] Mr. Witham from the Committee on Parishes &c reported in a new draft Bill to incorporate the South Parish in the town of Bridgton and the same was read once and this day at 12 o'clock assigned for a second reading.

[Order respecting Punishment of Death] On motion by Mr. Kingsbury, Ordered that the Come. on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of abolishing the punishment of death in certain cases. Sent down for concurrence.

[Resolve respecting depredations of Public Lands] Mr. Parsons, from the Committee on that part of the Governor's Message relating to the North Eastern boundary reported that the Committee had considered the subject as relates to depredations on the public lands and recommend the passage of
