The petition of Gardner Lyceum for pecuniary aid was read and referred to the joint standing committee on Literary Institutions in concurrence.
The petition of Simeon Williams and others to be excused from further military duty was read and referred to the joint standing committee on the Militia, in concurrence.
Order from the House of Representatives instructing the committee on Interior Fisheries, to enquire into the expediency of amending an act, entitled an act for the preservation of fish in the Penobscot river and bay and the several streams emptying into the same, and the several additional acts thereto, so as to make it lawful to take fish in any of said waters on Saturday in each week between the 20th day of April and the 12th day of July annually, and also of so amending said acts so that the duties of fish wardens shall be limited and confined to the towns or district in which they are appointed, read and passed in concurrence.
