Petition of Jonathan C. Everett and others for liberty to open a canal from the Moosehead Lake to Waters communicating with Wilson Stream came from the Senate referred to the Committee on Turnpikes Bridges and Canals for concurrence and the House concurred.

Bill additional to secure to owners their property in logs, masts and spars was read once and upon motion committed to a Select Committee consisting of Messrs. Washburn, Strout of Durham, and Sawyer of Brooks -

On motion of Mr O'Brien Ordered that the Committee on State Lands be directed to enquire into the expediency of authorizing the Land Agent, to sell all the State Lands in the Counties of Hancock and Washington consisting of lots of land and parts of townships lying south of the north line of Binghams Purchase, when he can obtain such terms as he may judge is for the interest of the State, with leave to report by bill or otherwise, sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr. Lord of Trenton Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of reducing the Salary of the Judge and Register of Probate in the County of Hancock with leave to report by bill or otherwise - sent up for concurrence -

On motion of Mr McMillan Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of authorizing the Governor and Council to fill the vacancies occasioned by death resignation
