A communication was received from Abner B. Thompson; declining the office of State Treasurer, read and sent down.

Order from the House of Representatives, instructing the committee on the Judiciary to enquire into the expediency of exonerating the estate of a surety upon a deputy sheriffs bond, for defaults happening after the decease of the surety and notice thereof to the sheriff, read and passed in concurrence.

The petition of John Stockbridge and others, that plantation No 8 in Oxford county may be incorporated into a town, was read and referred to the committee on the Incorporation of towns, in concurrence.

The petition of Thomas A Hill and others, to be incorporated into a Fire Insurance Company, came up from the House referred to the joint standing committee on parishes. The Senate nonconcur the House and refer said petition to the joint standing committee on Banks and Banking. Sent down for concurrence.

The petition of Reuben Murch, for a military pension, was read and referred to the committee on Military pensions, in concurrence.

The petition of certain inhabitants of Thorndike on the subject of extra Judicial oaths was read and referred to the committee on the Judiciary, in concurrence.
