- authorizing the town of Portland to elect a Board of Street Commissioners - were severally read a first and second time and tomorrow at 11. o'clock assigned for a third reading of the same.

Bill - to incorporate the Proprietors of Portland Theatre was read a first and second time and monday next assigned for a third reading of the same.

Bill - authorizing the Selectmen of Hallowell to appoint an additional number of Enginemen - was read a third time and passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

The resignation of Major General Stephen Berry of the sixth Division having been received and accepted - I now make it known to the two Branches of the Legislature, that the Office of Major General of the sixth Division of the Militia of this state is now vacant.
