in the battle of the previous Friday' was seriously wounded here- the ball passing through his shoulder Lt. Arthur Libby of Co. B was wounded in the right arm.- The regiment remained on guard on the battle field during the night, and experienced considerable hardship ;- the men's clothes being soaked by the heavy rain which fell for two hours during the engagement, and no fires being allowed us during the night hours of a clear cold night.- At 2 1/2 A.M. Tuesday ( 2nd) we moved off the ground- back to the Centerville turnpike, and then to Fairfax Court House, where we arrived at sunrise.- Moving twice at noon of the same day, we took up our march for Alexandria via Fairfax Station and Pohick Church, armoring near Fort Lyon Wednesday afternoon Sept 3rd. Friday ( 5th ) the regiment was paid off by Major Fessenden to July 1st 1862.
