To the Senate and House of Representatives.
A copy of a Resolve of the Legislature of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in relation to the payment of that portion of the claim for the services of the Militia during the last war to which this State is entitled. Also a statement of the disbursements by Massachusetts in prosecuting said claim, and a report of a Committee of the Council of that Commonwealth to whom the subject was refered has been received at the office of the Secretary of State. By these documents it appears that the sum of 23"148 Dollars and 26 cents is retained by Massachusetts for expenses in prosecuting said claim, and one third part of the balance of 396-600, amounting to 132"200 is in the Treasury of that Commonwealth, awaiting the order of this Government, and measures will forthwith be taken to procure the receipt of the same into the Treasury of this State.
These facts, together with the accompanying Documents are communicated for the information of the Legislature.
