Act of incorporation, with leave to erect a dam on the Kennebec River at Twelve Mile Falls in Vassalborough, came up from the House referred to Messrs Abbot of Vassalborough, Tyler of Farmington and Moore of Abbott, with such as the Senate may join. Read & concurred, and Messrs. Prescott and Tobin are joined.

Petition of the Universalist Society in Turner to surrender their Charter, read and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, in concurrence.

Petition of Edward S. Gray for a pension, was read and referred to the Committee on Military Pensions, in concurrence.

Petition of Eliot G. Vaughan that the Secretary of State may be authorized to furnish the township where he resides, with the laws of the State, was read and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, in concurrence.

A written Communication from the Secretary of State, accompanied with "abstracts of the Returns made to his office in June last by the several incorporated Banks in this State" was read and referred to the Committee on Banks and Banking. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Order from the House, instructing the Committee on the Judiciary to enquire into the expediency of abolishing all usury laws, read and passed in concurrence.

Mr Groton from the Joint Select Committee to whom was referred the order authorizing them to contract with some suitable person of legal attainments, to draft Bills and Resolves during the present session of the Legislature, made a report, which was read and accepted as amended. Sent down for concurrence.
