I write a few lines in answer to your letter of 20th ulto. I think you are getting to be very negligent about writing as I find it almost im-possible to get any information as to what is transpiring about home -- I received a letter from Mary a few days ago dated Aug. 28th. From that I learned that Francis Matthews, geo. Parkes and John Gordan have enlisted Also that Hope had voted to pay $120 bounty for nine month volunteers -- It is shameful How could they get a majority to vote those infamous and
