On motion by Mr. Tiffany of Sidney, Ordered That the Committee on Military Pensions be instructed to enquire into the expediency of renewing the pension granted George Sawtell of Sidney in 1830 in consequence of a severe injury received while on military duty.

On motion of Mr. Phelps of Fairfield, Ordered, That the Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges and Canals be instructed to inquire into the expediency of so amending the law, that in all complaints against towns for neglect to keep in repair roads or bridges, no complaint shall be made or received before any Court or jury until the complainant shall verify by oath or affirmation that he has notified the Selectmen of the town against which such complaint is made or some one of them a sufficient time before making such complaint to make the necessary repairs of his intention to do so unless said road or bridge be repaired & that said town has neglected to make such repairs. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Peol Tomah & others Indians of the Penobscot for the restoration of their townships of land reserved to them, taken without their consent, was read & referred to Messrs Dumont of Hallowell, Cony of Orono, Call of Bangor, Hodgman of Warren & Berry of Denmark with such as the Senate may join. Sent up for concurrence.
