Petition of Caleb Gilman & others of Mercer to be annexed to Norridgewock, was read & referred in concurrence with the Senate to the Committee on the division of towns. Sent up for concurrence.
Petition of James S Waters & others to be incorporated as the "Damoriscotta Steam Navigation Company" was read & referred in concurrence with the Senate to the Committee on Interior Waters. Sent up for concurrence.
Remonstrance of Jeremiah OBrien & others against the petition of S. A. Morse & others for a Rail Road to Dublin Cove Machias, Co Washington was read & referred in concurrence with the Senate to the Committee on Canals and Rail Roads. Sent up for concurrence.
On motion by Mr Tobin of Hartford. Ordered That the joint standing Committee on Manufactures be instructed to inquire into the expediency of so far changing the Act passed February 7 1825 exempting from taxation for the term of six years all property vested in manufacturing establishments of Cotton, Wool, Iron & Steel as that no manufacturing Company shall hereafter be incorporated, privileged by the like exemption. Sent up for concurrence.
On motion by Mr McIntire of Parsonsfied, Ordered, That the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to enquire into the expediency of providing by a general act for the incorporation of Villages & defining their powers. Sent up for concurrence.
