+ | Yes Sir an acquaintance and a friend of ours who was an inhabitant of the adjoining Town, now lies a cold & inanimate Body, in his Coffin, slumbering in the arms of death for daring to do his duty, on the floor of Congress, has it at last come to this; must the Brave, able & Eloquent debater on the floor of Congress be answerable for his words uttered in debate to every person who may be alluded to, in or out of the Capitol & be obliged to resort to Mortal Combat with a deadly Weapon to preserve his honor & his life. O. Dear Sir it has, our own native state mourns the death of her adopted son, our Sister County once the place of Residence of the much lamented Cilley will weep for her loss, but She must weep, in vain, she cannot restore him, her citizens may cast their eyes over the Seats of their Court House & upon the one he usually sat in. but they shall behold him not |
