This morning we went out and graised our horses. come in end at 10 oclock we had an Inspection of Arms. At noon we received orders to prepear to go on Picket Guard with 3 days rations[?]. We came up as far as Warrenton junction. I went on Post at 7 oclock. The night was pretty chilley.

We was relieved form Picket this morning at 10 oclock and we came down to Bealton Station where the rest of the Regt is Camped they having moved Camp while we was at Picket. The weather looks like a drought. The sun is red as a ball of fire.

I was in Camp to day received a couple of letters when the Mail came in at noon. one was from home and one from [illegible] Mass. I wrote a letter in the forenoon. The weather continues good [illegible].

May, Saturday, 16. 1863 The Bugle sounded this morning at 4 oclock for us to get up and feed our horses. We are going to march again to day. Boots and Saddles sounded at 6 oclock, and we was ready to Start. We came abought 3 mils and went into Camp. The weather continues good.

May, Tuesday, 19. 1863 on Picket again all day. nothing new has taken place. The weather is good and looks like a dry time, I wrote a letter this afternoon, and received one from Brewer Maine
