June 25th A fair day. We are still in the brestworks. Got no news.

26th All quiet along the line. A detale went on picket at night. Heavy firing on the right in the evening.

27th A fair and hot day. One Dagget of Co. F was shot in the head and died in a few minutes. A shower at night. We returned from picket.

28th A cool and fair day. Some canonading on the right of the line. All quiet in front of us. A cold night.

29th A fair but cool day. Cloudy P.M. All quiet

30th A cold cloudy windy day. We wer mustered for pay. I have been in the US service 22 months

July 1st We still lay in our works doing camp guard, picket, fatigue, in parts digging wells for water, etc. etc. Capt.
