As noted in your file TD 6743-H of Jan.

28th amount being $229.54, as on the east bound

by us on account of State of Maine, Boston & Maine

to make collection from the National Red Cross.

As the Boston & Maine's understanding is that

will it not be advisable for you to present with your

you, of course, have copy of same at hand and I would

Dear Sir: -

With reference to tickets issues on account of State of Maine Unit from Halifax:

As noted in your file TD 6743-H of Jan. 28th amount being $229.54, as on the east bound movement we have just been requested by the Boston & Maine RR, to advise them the transportation issued by us on account of State of Maine, Boston & Maine to make collection from the National Red Cross.

As the Boston & Maine's understanding is that on the west bound movement from Halifax proper collec- ion will be made by your line, under the circumstances will it not be advisable for you to present with your bill, the bill of the transportation issued on State of Maine account; this really being Red Cross business but the State of Maine handled it as an emergency measure

I am not returning the copy of the bill as you, of course, have copy of same at hand and I would like to have some for reference. Will you not kindly arrange to include these amounts in your bill against the Red Cross and if we find that our understanding is incorrect and that it develops that bill should be paid by State of Maine we stand ready to make collections as originally intended.

Will you not kindly advise?

Yours truly, M.L. Harris [signature] General Passenger Agent
