Newport News Va Oct 17th 1862 To Governor Washburn Dear sir I now take the opitunity to inform you of the iltreatment that I am under at this place. I was sent to this Hospital sick the first of July and have been here ever since but do not get any better I have been examined by three Doctors and pronounced unfit for duty.
