Castine June 18 1862
Hon I Washburn Jr
Dear Sir I read a letter from my son Charles a few day since he writes he had rather have a 2nd Lieut place in the 16th Reg. than have the place we ask for him in the 2nd Reg for the reason I suppose there would be no hard feelings created by his having a place in the 16th. But I suppose he cannot get a place in the 16th unless I can get some Recruits which I think is impossible
Yours Respectfully John Bridges
