and has been in every battle and skirmish in which his regiment has been engaged from Bull Run, to the present time. This young gentleman and his brother who went with him, and who died in the service, have been exemplary as gentlemen and soldiers, and as a reward for such fidelity the many friends of Mr. Chamberlain in this city are desirous that he should be suitably noticed.
He desires to be detached from his present duties, and placed in some suitable position in the 16th Regiment. I am of the opinion that a Lieutenancy might be given to him in the full belief that he would discharge all the duties of the position with honor to himself and credit to the state and nation.
