Propositions having been made to one of the Professors whose usefulness and fame neither the College nor the State can afford to part with, to remove to a neighbouring University, I suggest for your consideration whether there would not be a propriety at this time, in making such grant to this College as will convince the Officers connected with it, that it is to receive the patronage and support of the Government. I recommend to your favorable consideration also the Institution established at Waterville, the local situation as well as the persons connected with the Institution will deserve your attention.
