Head Quarters Fort Fairfield

June 1st 1839.

By a recent order from Rufus MacIntire Land Agent of the State of Maine the commanders of the respective companies of civil volunteers at this Station in the service of said State placed at the disposal of the Land Agent are requested and enjoined to return to him forthwith or his assistant at this place respective list of the men enlisted by them for said service with the proper[?] certificate of the date of enlistment &c &c together with a twice[?] attested copy of the instructions under which they were authorized to enlist[?] the same

Fort Fairfield June 4, 1839,

To Capt. Henry Williamson in the service of the State of Maine and comm[?] of a company of volunteers stationed at this post, under direction of the Land Agt.

Whereas[?] Alfred Banks, Ancil Littlefield, Bradbury[?] Lowell Reuben Drake – Samuel Watson – John Watson – Thomas Lombard - & Adam Macomber members[?] of the company enlisted by you and under your Supervision at this station have signified their intention to me of abandoning the service aforesaid contrary to the terms of their enlistment and have manifested for some time past, and [?] do a [?] of insubordination to the rules and regulations instituted by the authorities relative – you[?] are[?] hereby required to cause to be returned to me forthwith as assistant of the aforesaid Land Agt at this post – case they abandon the service their rifles and equipment &[?] blankets &c &c as well as all public property now in their possession or which has be entrusted to them to be so returned.

You are also required to make a true[?] and attested[?] return of the situation of your company and the facts[?] in relation to the above order as 1 o,clock P.M. this day.
