Be it Remembered that I Joseph Swett of York in the county of York, and Province, of the Massachusetts Bay in New England, Gentleman, do by these presents covenant and agree, to and with Patience Nowell- Relect and Widow of Ebenezer Nowell, Late of York- aforesaid, yeoman, Deceas'd in manner following Viz, that within one month from the date hereof I will enter into the State of Matrimony with and take to wife the said Patience according to the Laws and wage of this Province without any Desire of any estate either real of personall, that now doth or hereafter may come or any ways appertain to the said Patience either as her Right of Dowry to her late Husbands estate or any other ways and I do- hereby promise to give the said Patience (if she shall survive me) within six months after my Decease the sum of one hundred pounds lawfull money of this Province to be paid to her or her heirs executors or administrators by my heirs exectutors or administrators and furthermore, that the said PAtience, shall have the use and Improvement of the one half of my now Dwelling house in York, aforesaid, with such one of my Negro servants as she shall choose during the said term of six months after my Decease, if she shall choose to tarry there that term of time, and untill she can remove her self with conveniencey the said servant to wait upon her, and her meete, drink, lodging, firewood, & candles to be provided her during that term of six months as also the said servants clothing, meete, drink, firewood, etc all to be provided for out of my Estate by my Executors or administrators as aforesaid, or if the said Patience should chuse to go away to her former home immediately after my Funeral Rights are performed then I hereby promise and do bind my heirs, executors, and administrators to pay or cause to be paid unto the said Patience immediately after my Funeral as aforesaid, the said sum of
