[1823 January 1] that Messrs Tallman, O'Brien & Green be a committee to arrange the seats of the members at the Senate Board. -

Ordered that when the Senate adjourn they adjourn to 3 oclock this afternoon.

[Messenger] On motion voted that the Senate now elect a messenger by ballot - and Capt. John Merrill was accordingly elected

The Senate then adjourned

After 3 Oclock [joint order respecting messages] Order of the House "That all messages between the two House be communicated by the Secretary of the Senate and Clerk of the House of Representatives respectively, and that all papers be transmitted by them or their assistants." read & concurred.

The Secretary of State came in & laid on the table the returns of votes from the several towns & plantations in this State for Governor. [Committee on Votes for Governor] On motion ordered that they be committed to Messrs Tallman, Dennett & Wilson with such as the House may join. - Sent down for concurrence, and came up concurred and Messrs Parker, Abbot, Emery, Wilkins and Towle were jointed.

[Report of Committee on arrangement of Seats] The committee appointed to arrange the seats of the members at the Senate Board made a report, which was not accepted. On motion voted that the seats at the Senate Board be distributed by lots and Messrs Usher & Buxton were appointed to
