The committee of both Houses to whom was committed the returns of votes for Governor, given in the several towns and plantations within this State reported.

[Report of the Committee on Votes for Governor] That they find the whole number of votes given in the several towns and plantations which have been duly returned to the office of the Secretary of State to be twenty two thousand one hundred and eighty 22,180 Necessary for a choice 11,091 The Hon. Albion K. Parris has 15, 476 and is chosen.

The committee further reported that they rejected the returns from the town of Biddeford in the County of York, the same not having been signed by the town Clerk.

Also rejected the returns from the town of Winslow in the County of Kennebec there being no evidence that the selectmen presided.

[rejected votes] Also rejected the return from Thompson Pond plantation in the County of Cumberland - the same never having been sealed up.

Also rejected the return from Plantation No. 14 in Hancock County the same not having been signed by the assessors.

Also rejected the returns from the town of Etna and plantation No.2 and associates in the County of Penobscot the same not having been received at the Secretary's office till the 16th of December. All of which is submitted - Peleg Tallman per order. -
