− | Circumstances which have recently transpired in relation to Mr. Winslow Staples, render necessary the appointment of another agent for the Penobscot Indians. I understand there are several applicants. I think the appointment of Samuel W. Hoskins Esq. would be conducive to the best interest of the Indians. and also to the best interest of the Republican white folks.
