Bill "to apportion and assess on this State a Tax of Fifty thousand Dollars" Read a first and second time and 3 oclock this afternoon assigned for a third Reading and in the meantime committed to Messrs Virgin, Libby & McClain.

Resolve providing for the reimbursement of the sums loaned to the State" Read a first and second time and passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

[Chaplain sick]

A note was received from the Chaplain notifying the speaker of his indisposition and consequent inability to attend on the House this morning.

[Committee - Clerk Hire in Secy of States - Office]

Ordered that Messrs Reed, Delano & Hall of Frankfort be a Committee to consider the propriety of making any alteration in the allowance for Clerk hire in the office of Secretary of State with leave to report by Bill or otherwise. Read & passed.
