I take the liberty to address you in reference to my Son, Henry O. Dunbar, a Private in the 60th 2, Reg, Maine Volunteer Militia He being a Minor & having enlisted without my knowledge or consent I request his immediate Discharge the following is a true copy of the record of his age.

Henry O Dunbar Born April 8, 1842, &[?] consequently he was nineteen last April, Dear sir, having been for some time an Inhabitant of the Town of Orono & living but a short distance from you & holding in high estimation the justice[?] &[?] integrity[?] of your character I make this request feeling that you will not disregard it I[?] trust He[?] behaved himself well on the battle field, & thogh [though] in some respects he has fared hard, I think he has never manifested a spirit of Insubordination you well know, Sir, that at present the Reg is badly broken up. I hope Sir you will regard the right & feelings of an [?] Father & grant the Discharge at once, I feel a great interest for the welfare of the Nation but these[?] are pressing
