Mr Snow then moved that the subject be referred to the next Legislature and that the Bill be published in all the newspapers printed in Portland that publish the Laws of the State, - and the question was taken by yeas & nays and decided in the negative as follows [see appendix page 294] yeas 54 nays 66 – and the papers were ordered to lie on the table

Bill to incorporate the Saco Manufacturers Canal Company, was referred, on motion of Mr Adams of Portland, to the committee on Bills in the third reading, with special instructions, as contained on sheet marked A annexed to said Bill.
