The Gov. men will not pay the traveling expenses of any Regt Surgeon, and having been un- fortunately recognized by the Surgeon General at the War department my Brigrade Com- mission will be sent here, con- sequently I wish a deferral of the usual traveling fee which I otherwise would have received had it been directed to Bangor. This is rather hard for my salary for this month will be absorbed by my expenses in getting here, and such things and necessary expenses here before I could get comfortable quarters established.
