I See by the Daley[Daily?] Globe, Washington Wednesday June 11/56 by Mr Fuller & Mains[?], the memorial of Governor John Francis of the Passamaquoddy Indians, for a pension[?] in the right of his farther[father?], Joseph Francis formerly Governor of said Tribe, for extraordinary and meritorious services rendered during the revolutionary was in behalf of the Colonies, (Mr John Francis was here & wished me to inquire what was done on the above, & if you have any knowledge about it please write me and I will inform him what you know about it, would like to know what they done[?] with the above memorial, & whether he was allowed a pension or not, if any, how much, I suppose you think he could get the above information from Mr Fuller, & I told him the same, but he shook his head & wanted me to go & see him, but I refused, this was some time ago, sed [said] he did not know how to talk with such great men, I once[?] voted for Mr Fuller but he has changed his views, when I voted for him, I supposed he would vote against oppression[?] of every description, but I find I was mistaken in the man, & I am not alone, Mr[?] Democrats[?] ses [says] I have changed, not they, O no, their principles are the same, & they undertook to make me believe that they did not want slavery &c but I think they failed to convince me any such thing
