Met according to adjournment.

John Burgin Esqr, returned as a member from Eastport appeared, presented his credentials, was qualified & took his seat.

Joseph Crooker of Dover was substituted for Col Carpenter on the committee on sick & wounded soldiers, who was excused from serving on said committee.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence instructing the committee on applications for Manufacturing Companies to consider the expediency of exempting by law from taxation, Manufacturing Companies, under certain limitations - and the House concurred.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence appointing Messrs Churchill & Parlin with such as the House may join, a committee to take into consideration the expediency of establishing a Police Court in Portland, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction of all such offences, crimes & misdemeanors, as may be committed in said town: and as are now by law cognizable by Justices of the Peace, with leave to report by bill or otherwise - and the House concurred & Messrs Fessenden of Portland, Smith of Westbrook & Ricker of Waterboro were joined.

Message from the Senate by Mr Smith their Secretary - Mr Speaker, The Senate have assigned Tuesday next at 11 oclock to come to the choice of a Major General on their part, for the eighth Division -

A communication was received from Elias Stowell Esquire signifying his acceptance as a Counsellor - read and sent up.
