Bill in addition to an act to incorporate the Bank of Portland - was read a 3d time, amended & ordered to lie on the table -
Petition of William Sullivan & als on the subject of altering the laws respecting the taxation of nonresident lands - was read & referred to the committee on New Trials. Sent up for concurrence.
Bill to incorporate the Commercial Bank, was read, amended and ordered to lie on the table -
Bill in addition to an act to incorporate the Casco Bank, was read a 3d time & ordered to lie on the table.
An order came from the Senate for concurrence appointing Messrs Parsons of Lincoln & Stebbins with such as the House may join a committee to consider what alterations are necessary in the laws relating to Probate business, & the expediency of fixing Salaries to Registers of Probate in the several Counties, and of exempting of poor widows and orphans from the payment of probate fees, and for the regulating of Probate fees and the House concurred and Messrs Wingate of Bath Fogg of Montville & Dunn of Poland were joined.
Bill additional to an act to incorporate the Cumberland Bank, was read a 3d time, amended & ordered to lie on the table.
Petition of Hezekiah Winslow & als on subject of the Militia Law, was read & referred to the special committee of this House on that subject.

The Committee on the Bill respecting the conveyance of heavy loads on wheel Carriages &c, reported a new draft and that the Secy of State publish the same in all the newspapers in this State & that the subject be referred to the next Legislature - read & accepted. Sent up for concurrence -
