To the Governor of Maine
The undersigned citizens of Old Town and Republicans, have been informed that there is a vacancy in the office of Agent of the Penobscot Indians. They have recently understood that Saml. W. Hoskins Esq is a candidate for the appointment. Being personally acquainted with him and having a high opinion of his integrity, ability, & fitness to discharge the duties of that office, we respectfully recommend his appointment.
