Ordered that the Clerk of this House be requested to appoint some suitable person, forthwith to assist him in the duties of his office - read and passed - and Albert Gallatin Jewett was appointed accordingly.

The committee appointed to contract with a Door Keeper and Page, reported that they had contracted with Thomas Baker to perform those services by himself and another and a Page at four dollars & fifty cents per day - and the report was accepted

Ordered that Messrs Burr of Litchfield, Chase of Kittery & Farnsworth of Norridgewock be a committee with such as the Senate may join to employ some suitable person to assist the members of the Legislature in drafting & copying Laws & Resolves the present session - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence, appointing Messrs Dennet, Stebbins & Dunn with such as the House may join, a committee to examine the returns of votes for Governor from the several towns & plantations in this State - and the House concurred and Messrs White of Monmouth, Johnson of Belfast, Roberts of South Berwick, Mace of New Gloucester Bixby of Athens & Barnard of Alna were joined

An order came from the Senate for concurrence directing that all messages between the two Houses of the Legislature be transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate and the Clerk of the House of Representatives respectively, and that all papers be transmitted by them or their assistants - and the House concurred.
