The Senate resumed the consideration of the motion last submitted by Mr Meqquier, in the forenoon session, and the same was negatived.

Mr Meqquier moved to amend the Preamble to the order by inserting after the word "required" the words "which proposed convention was never agreed to by the vote of the Senate", and the question on his amendment being ordered to be taken by yeas & nays was decided in the negative as follows:
