(62) Saturday 6th February 1830

The Senate met according to adjournment. [Mr. Dunlap excused on committee Mr. Morse appointed] The Senate excused Mr. Dunlap, at his request, from serving on the committee to wait upon Jonathan G. Hunton Esq. to inform him of his election &c and Mr. Morse was appointed in his room. The order was then sent down for concurrence, concurred and Messrs. Seaman of Saco, Swan or Portland, Howard of Brownfield, Hoyt of Readfield & Knowlton of Montville were joined, on the part of the House.

[Memorial of Moses Greenleaf) Memorial of Moses Greenleaf, asking relief from expenses in the preparation and publication of the statistical view and Map of Maine, was read and referred to Messrs. Megquier & Appleton, with such as the House may join: Sent down for concurrence. Concurred & Messrs. Kent of Bangor, White of Monmouth & Seaman of Saco were joined on the part of the House.

[Sec of State to furnish copies of questions to S.J.C.] On motion by Mr. Phelps; Ordered, that the Secretary of State be requested to furnish copies of the questions propounded to the Supreme Judicial Court by the Acting Governor on the 23d Ult. and by the Council on the 25th Ult. with copies of the opinions of the Court in answer thereto.

[order relative to Highways] Orders of the House of Representatives that the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of Justices of the Court of Sessions being authorized to grant certain sums of money to Towns for building and repairing Roads that are located by said Counties, to be drawn out of the Treasury of their respective Counties. (Also) That the same committee be instructed to inquire
