[Report]

Mr. Stebbins from the committee appointed to wait upon the Governor, &c. reported that they had performed the duty assigned them; and that the Governor was pleased to say that he should forthwith communicate to the two branches by the Secretary of State, which would be all the communication he should make to the Legislature at the present Session. -

[Vote of thanks to the President of the Senate]

Mr. Dunlap then rose and felicitated the Senate upon the harmony and good feeling, which had prevailed amongst the members during the session, and concluded by submitting the following Resolution, viz. -

“Resolved, That the thanks of the Senate be presented to the Hon. Jonas Wheeler, their President for the prompt, dignified and impartial manner in which he has presided over their deliberations; and that we avail ourselves of this occasion to tender to him our best wishes, for his health, prosperity and happiness.” -

The above Resolve was seconded by Mr. Churchill, and being read and put by the Secretary, passed unanimously. - Whereupon the President rose and addressed the Senate as follows, viz. -

“Gentlemen of the Senate, -

The liberal and friendly Resolution in regard to my services in discharging the duties of the Chair, introduced and seconded by the gentlemen from Cumberland, and passed by you, excites in my breast the warmest emotions of gratitude. - This flattering testimony of your approbation fills my bosom with the most lively sensations of pleasure. - Permit me, Gentlemen, to reciprocate to you my most cordial and sincere thanks for the uniform urbanity deco-
