Corea, Maine Dec 2/40 Dear Mrs. Jacob- I saw today an autographed copy of a my book of poems - "Androscoggin" - which is just off the press. -- [?] with pleasure. As to binding the copy of Twenty Five Poems, all I meant was to put some sort of [?] inter covers on top of the impractical [?] paper cover - because even though it is not to circulate it will be handled and in course of time get torn. That is what I would advise. The new book as you will see is beautifully done and I am proud of it. You of course received the copy of VS Parses [?] and Claire Spencer's book "Gallows Orchard." [??] for the long list of club possibilities. The Kiwanis and Rotarian aspects use of course discounted because the [?] of lectures I have prepared could [?] interest literary clubs and of course I must be re-imbursed as cannot give free lectures. I have written to Univ. of Maine because they have paid lectures - + to Lincoln Maine. Some sort of club or other [?], as they had Robert Coffin last year + I doubt if he would go for a free lecture. Anyhow Thanks. Marsden Hartley. Please send me an official acceptance of the books.
