Whereas it appears by the report of a Committee of this House, that Luther Severance, one of the publishers of the Maine daily Journal has refused to answer a question under oath propounded to him by a committee of this House appointed on the third of March 1832 with power to send for persons and papers, and whereas an answer to the question so propounded to him was material in ascertaining the facts to which said Committee were directed to enquire Therefore Resolved, that said Luther Severance in refusing to answer the question propounded to him by a Committee of this House has set at defiance the power and violated the Rights of this House and is liable to be proceeded against for a contempt

284 Resolve authorizing the Governor to appoint an Agent to locate a Road from Athens to Moosehead Lake, came from the Senate referred to the next Legislature, and the House recede from then vote indefinitely postponing the Resolve and refer the same to the next Legislature.

Bill additional for the regulation of Innholders Retailors and Common Victuallers, was read a first and second time and tomorrow at ten oclock assigned for a third reading.

A message was received from the Senate by their Secretary informing the House that the Senate nonconcur in the amendment proposed by the House to the amendment of the Senate in a Bill to prevent fraud in the inspection of Fish and adhere to their vote passing the Bill to be engrossed as by them amended, and the House recede from their vote amending the amendment of the Senate and pass the same to be engrossed in concurrence
