13 Mr. Cogswell from the joint Select Committee appointed to wait on Robert P. Dunlap and inform him that he has been elected by the people Governor of the State of Maine for the current political year, and that the two Houses of the Legislature are ready to convene in the Representatives Hall, that in their presence he may take and subscribe the oaths of office required by the Constitution; reported that the Committee had performed the duty assigned them and the Governor elect was pleased to say that he accepted the office, and that he would forthwith meet the two branches of the Legislature in the Representatives Hall for the purpose of being qualified according to the provisions of the Constitution.

Ordered, that a message be sent to the House of Representatives proposing a convention of both branches of the Legislature in the Representatives Hall forthwith, for the purpose of qualifying the Governor elect which message was delivered by the Secretary.

A message was received from the House of Representatives, concurring in the foregoing proposition.
