The petition of Jonathan Hall for a Divorce Read and referred to the Joint Standing Committee on the Judiciary in concurrence.
The Remonstrance of the inhabitants of Sedgwick against the removal of the Courts from Castine. Read and referred to the Committee that have under consideration the petition praying that Ellsworth may be made the shire town in the County of Hancock in concurrence.
A Communication was received from Roscoe G. Greene signifying his acceptance of the office of Secretary of State. Read and sent down.
In Convention. Agreeably to assignment the two Branches of the Legislature met in Convention in the Representatives Hall for the purpose of choosing a Treasurer of State. Messrs. Talbot & McLellan of the Senate and Frost of Standish Emery of Biddeford and Vose of Castine of the House were appointed a Committee to receive, sort and count the votes, who having attended to the duty assigned them, reported that the whole number of votes given in were 170 Necessary to a choice 87 Mark Harris has 120 Jesse Aiken 53 Mark Harris was declared duly elected Treasurer of State; and the Convention seperated [separated].
