I endured very great hardship at the battle of Hanover Court House in May, and was nearly sick after- wards though continuing at my post until Thursday June 27th the day of the battle near [ -] [ ville]--My brigade was near there and I was ordered to see to the removal of all the sick in the Brigade 2 or 300 to [Mclellans'?] New Quarters almost 8 miles [dis- tant?]--Two asst. Surgeons were detailed to assist me but with becoming sick. I was oblige either to perform the duty alone or leave the sick in the hands of the rebels who were [ -]
