The petition of Samuel Thacker and others, that certain obstructions in Penobscot river may be removed, was read and referred to the committee on the Judiciary, in concurrence.
The petition of certain inhabitants of Witten, on the subject of extra Judicial oaths, was read and referred to the same committee, in concurrence.
Remonstrance against the petitions for a surveyor general of lumber at Bangor read and referred to the committee who have under consideration the petition of Benjamin Young and others, in concurrence.
Bill to abolish the office of Crier, in the Supreme Judicial Court and Court of Common Pleas', was read once, and tomorrow at ten o'clock assigned for a second reading, and the same was committed to Messrs Hodgman, Gibson, and Groton.
Resolve in favour of Portland and Westbrook came up from the House referred to the committee on Turnpikes, Bridges, and Canals. The Senate recede from their vote refusing said resolve a passage, and concur the House in said reference.
