Mr. Smith from the Committee on Manufactures to whom was referred an order to enquire into the expediency of revising the laws in our Trustee process so far that they may operate upon Foreigners coming into the State; also that the same Committee may enquire into the expediency of regulating the sale of Laths in the county of Washington, made a Report asking leave to be discharged from the further consideration of the same, and that the same be referred to the Committee on the Judiciary. Read & accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

The message from the Governor, transmitting the Report of the Commissioners appointed under the Resolve on the ninth of March 1822 "for the purchase of Indian Lands", together with the doings of the Council thereon, laid on the table by the Secretary of State on Tuesday last, was read and referred to the Committee on State Lands. Mr. Pierce from the Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions, to whom was referred the petition of the Trustees of Bowdoin College that the State would assume the defence of an action commenced against them by William Allen, made a report asking leave to be discharged from the further consideration of said petition, and that the same be referred to the Committee on the Judiciary who have the same subject under consideration. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
