Hampden May the 8 1863 My Dear Sir I sit down this afternoon to write you a few lines to let you know of my helth Whitch is very poor as now Mr Gardiner i have Ben out in the War in 1861 I inlisted to Bangor July the 2 1861 went out on the 2 Maine in Co K was in the Hospital 6 months was sent Home from Fortress [mortal? martial?] Chespeak Hospital the 2 day of June last year [ ] was ent to Augusta to report our Selfs and we dun so and was sent for to Cum to Augusta to be Examined by the docter and I did so and He Give me assistant For a discharged But you told me that i had But to have my s[ ] list Before they cold be drilled out but I tried to git them
