to know and appreciate, and of whose fidelity and assiduity to the business of Legislation, and to the interests of the State, their constituents may well feel proud. I can bear witness too, to the good feelings and kindness that have predominated among the gentlemen of the Legislature, not withstanding the differences of opinion and sentiment, that must of course, prevail among so large and assemblage of men. We are now about to dissolve our connexion as members of the Legislature and to separate from those to whom friendship has already or was fast endearing us. At such a time let all minor causes of irritation, and all differences and mutual faults be sunk into perpetual forgetfulness. Let kindness, respect and esteem for each other's good qualities, assert and maintain their predominance. And as each of us turns his face homeward, whither all that is near & dear to the heart draws us, where family and friends are waiting to bestow the smiles of affection and approbation, let us determine to cherish in grateful remembrance, the kindnesses we have received at the hands of each other, and dismiss all jealousies and enmities and forget and forgive all wrongs, as we hope hereafter to be forgiven by him who creates & upholds and blesses all. In taking my leave of you permit me, gentlemen, to renew my acknowledgements for the distinguished honor you have done me, and to add my best wishes that health prosperity, and length of days may be the happy lot of each and all of you.
