I with the rest of the guards are to stop here at Mount Jackson this morning while Govener Haines goes with a flag of truce after the body of his son. General Fremont and his army is here at Mount Jackson. We started to come back at 6 oclock PM. did not git back to Strasburg till 1 oclock in the morning. was pretty tired when I got there.

I was in Camp to day. received a letter from home this morning. was very good to hear from home. I wrote a letter home. Twenty men of our Company was detailed to go to Winchester

I camp all day. nothing of eny interest has taken place to day. Two of our men was sent to Winchester with dispatches to day. At dark to night I with 2 more men from my Company had to go to Mount Jackson to General Fremonts Headquarters with a man that was arrested here in Strasburg by the order of Gen'l Fremont for stealing hordes. it was 8 oclock in the morning when we got to Mount Jackson.

with a lot of prisoners of war taken by General Fremont in the battle last Sunday. two more of our men has been sent to General Fremonts Headquarters with despatches this afternoon.
