The undersigned connected with Bowdoin College are well acquainted with Lieut E. P. Loring of the 13th Maine Regt.
He is a graduate of the class of 1861, was one of the prominent men of his class maintaining a high stand as a man and a scholar. We have no means of judging of his military proficiency, but we know that he is capable of perfecting himself in almost any department to which he may give his attention.
With firm health, a good constitution, an active vigorous mind and a character above reproach, he will make, in our opinion,
